Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death

The error is ultimately down to a design flaw in the way the
motherboard is secured with the X-Clamps. When the console is running a
lot of heat is generated and this causes the motherboard to flex
against the X-clamps, in turn the solder joints on the processors come
away from the motherboard itself or the heat sinks come away from the
motherboard.

Result of either of these is the Red Ring of Death (3 Red Light Error),
because it is due to a design flaw this problem is experienced by a
large number of owners. Microsoft has not as yet come up with a good
design fix for the issue.

On the latest `Elite' models of the console they have used a resin to
hold the corners of the processors in place in an attempt to stop the
movement that causes them to come away from the motherboard. I have had
an `Elite' fall victim to the three red light error so I would say that
the attempted fix has not been successful!

sure that the processors get reconnected when you do this so it really
